Curry Western

Wanted to tell you about a movie I watched recently. It's a 1975 cowboy-western film from India (hence a"curry Western") called "Sholay" (IMdb link). It was my first Indian movie, and by far it was one of the more exciting ones as well. One of my Hindi buddies from work was there with us and translated parts that didn't have English subtitles. These "masala" (mixed theme) movies are interesting not only because of how well the themes blend together, but also the song and dance routines that you'll find. This 3.5-hour bad boy had 7 or 8 song and dance scenes, including one where the girl had to dance and sing continuously in order to keep her lover alive from these bandits.

Speaking of bandits, this movie had the worst bad guy I've ever seen in film--be it English, Filipino, Spanish, or Hindi. He was called Gabbar Singh. In this story, Gabbar did horrible things to everyone around him. Ask any Hindi alive in the 70's to tell you about Gabbar Singh. You'll get quite a story. If anything, you'll get a puzzled look from a guy with no idea how you know that name. :-)

My new MP3 player

It's the awesome iRiver H10 with 20 GB of storage. I love it because it sounds good and lets me transfer songs from my computer to it easily. I've loaded about 500 songs onto it. This device also lets you transfer and view playlists, photos, and text files. I just wish they had provided earbuds that fit my ears...but then again, maybe I have weirdly-shaped ears. :-)

Am I blogging too little? Tell me what else you think I should be talking about.

Off to bed I go! Another exciting week lies ahead!

Happy Halloween!!

A copy of that film is what I need when I finally retire. 3.5 hrs, that is long, but I will have all the time!

Congratulations on your new toy! Wow, that sounds powerful. I love to see and use that when I see you.

Take care.
