Plates of ice

Last Wednesday will be a day I'll remember for a long time.

In the afternoon, we got freezing rain in Kansas. When I first heard the forecast I was like, well, that's just rain that's really, really cold.... Then later on I learned the truth: they call it freezing rain because IT FREEZES EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES! The ground was all iced up when I left the office. Everything was frozen--the ground, the sidewalk, my car.... It was so frozen that plates of ice formed on top of my car. And I'm not talking about snow here...this stuff was nothing but stiff plates of ice. And if you crack it with something, it's not like snow where it just flakes off. No...this stuff fragments into shards! It's like shoving broken glass off my car! I'm not embellishing here when I say it's like glass. This stuff is razor sharp. When it falls to the ground, it shatters into a dozen pieces. Remember that movie "Ghost" where the bad guy gets it in the end? That's what this frozen ice reminds me of. Scary stuff, man...scary stuff....

You're not kidding man. Those ice storms are not to be laughed at. They don't care.

Best to plan not to go ANYwhere for a few hours (or days) after one of those things. They used to tear apart my trees in KS too.

Deadly stuff. Be careful.
